Recap of PPD at NPC 25
At the APA 2025 National Planning Conference, aka NPC 25, PPD members were out in force. At the leadership meetings that preceded the conference, PPD Chair Steve Tocknell, FAICP took every opportunity that he had to promote our two key PPD objectives, i.e. to secure more benefits for our members, and to confirm our division’s ongoing commitment to ethics and equity. Below are some other highlights from Steve's dispatch to PPD members:
I am proud to report that other divisions and chapters are joining us in our push to get help with obtaining professional liability insurance, and that APA executives and board members are responding to us.
I'm also glad to say that the commitment of the APA to ethics and equity principles is ongoing, and stronger than ever. From the opening keynote on the first day, and on through to the closing, the diversity of those in attendance was hard to miss.
Once again, our joint Private Practice / Transportation Planning division reception was a conference highlight for those of us who were in attendance. I was very glad to meet so many PPD members in person. If you were there and I missed you, please accept my regrets.
And finally, congratulations to PPD member Dan Parolek for organizing and leading his session on “Delivering Housing Solutions: Missing Middle and Beyond. It was one of the best sessions at the conference, on one the timeliest topics facing our profession. On the closing day of the conference, Dan attracted an overflow crowd that spilled out into the hallway.
